Actopolis. The Art of Action

Cities today face challenges all over the world. How is it possible to expand and preserve urban space as a common area of society even in times of its economic exploitation and privatisation? What is the role of art, culture, architecture, self-organised action and activism in these processes? Over the past few years artists, architects, philosophers, urbanists, and activists have been working on these questions in seven different European cities—Ankara/Mardin, Athens, Belgrade, Bucharest, Oberhausen, Sarajevo and Zagreb—within the framework of the international project ACTOPOLIS: The Art of Action.

ACTOPOLIS is a call to action and to co-author the city—across disciplines, national boundaries, and cultural differences. Las ciudades se enfrentan a desafíos en todo el mundo. ¿Cómo es posible ampliar y preservar el espacio urbano como área común de la sociedad incluso en tiempos de explotación económica y privatización? ¿Cuál es el papel del arte, la cultura, la arquitectura, la acción auto-organizada y el activismo en estos procesos? En los últimos años artistas, arquitectos, filósofos, urbanistas y activistas han estado trabajando en estas cuestiones en siete ciudades europeas diferentes: Ankara/Mardin, Atenas, Belgrado, Bucarest, Oberhausen, Sarajevo y Zagreb, en el marco del proyecto internacional ACTOPOLIS: The Art of Action. ACTOPOLIS es una llamada a la acción y a la coautoría de la ciudad a través de disciplinas, fronteras nacionales y diferencias culturales.
