Based in Barcelona in the last decade, the French-Israeli artist Daniel Enkaoua (Meaux, 1962) has developed an intense work characterized by timelessness and spirituality.
As Àlex Susanna says in his introductory essay: “Enkaoua paints as if he were the first ever to do so. […] in each of his works the world is reborn and remade – still hesitant and trembling – as occurs all too rarely in contemporary art. Seeking to affirm itself, his work has all the resonance and radiance of daybreak, of dawn’s twilight. Enkaoua has fought against a sense of having seen it all before, striving instead to be able to move towards things, and this is the source of the lifeblood coursing through his work: irrefutable proof that he has achieved his objective.”
