Muntadas: Entre/Between (english version)

The catalogue offers an essential cartography about Antoni Muntadas’ oeuvre since 1971, emphasising his will to take position and approach the power structures and discourses that permeate the contemporary reality from intermediary spaces. Organised in nine thematic groups, parallel to the exhibition that Museo Reina Sofía dedicated to over 40 years of his projects and ideas, the catalogue attempts to avoid presenting a retrospective vision but instead explores the different fields of investigation that nurture his works.
This exhibition surveys the projects and ideas that underpinned the body of work by Muntadas (Barcelona, 1942) for more than 40 years. At the crossroads between video, photography, text and installation, Muntadas inquired into the nature of art institutions and their ecosystem of production-reception, the changing relations between public and private, and the power of the flow of information against the contemporary landscape of the mass media.
Authors: Daina Augaitis, Manuel Borja-Villel, Eugeni Bonet, Jo-Anne Birnie Danzker, Ina Blom, Marcelo Expósito, Gerald Raunig, Brian Wallis and many other voices that suggest connections and open new lines of thought about his artistic production.
