Published on the occasion of Richard Saltoun Gallery´s exhibition at Frieze New York (2016) this monograph explores Robert Filliou´s practice through an array of works, anecdotes and original texts by the artist. The catalogue includes an essay by art historian and writer Anna Dezeuze.

Born in 1926, French artist Robrt Filliou opened up endless possibilities in the medium of sculpture. His practices challenged the role of art in everyday life and its status as a finished product through conceptual strategies and innovative techniques: utilising ´poor´ art mediums (everyday objects and materials) and those that were easy to distribute (poetry, performance and video).

Filliou´s process-based approach and his pursuit for anti-individualistic art, brought him close to George Maciunas and the other members of Fluxus: George Brecht (with whom he funded in 1965 the non-gallery La Cedille Qui Sourit; Villefranche-sur-Mer, FR), Dieter Roth, Daniel Spoerri, and Emmett Williams.
