Caravaggio

This volume focuses on the work of Italian artist Caravaggio (1571-1610) whose innovative use of the chiaroscuro technique and intense emotional realism - along with his notorious antics outside the studio - made him a household name among collectors during his lifetime. However, Caravaggio was almost ignored after his death, and it was only during the 20th century that critics rediscovered his work and realised the profound influence he had on the Baroque style.
